Bobby leaned against the side of his car. Andreana stood a few feet to his left. It had been a good day. Lunch and a movie had turned into lunch, a movie, dinner, and dancing. They'd had a lot of fun, and a little too much to drink. Bobby looked at the keys in his hand. "I shouldn't be driving."
"So take a cab," said Ann.
"Can't. I don't have enough money."
Andreana thought it over for a few minutes. "I know! You can stay at my house. And before you get any ideas, I have a couch. It's a very nice couch."
Bobby laughed. "I'm sure it is. And thank you, my lady." Bobby exacuted a somewhat sloppy bow. "I assure you that I am appropriately grateful. Oh, that I were a responsiable man. I would have be the mother of my children."
Ann gave a bitter laugh. "Me, a mother. Yeah, ri-ight."
Bobby noticed her sudden change in mood. He moved closer to her, putting his arms around her. "Hey, waht's the matter?"
"Bobby, what would you do if you found out I was lying to you from the very beginning? Would you hate me?"
"Well, that depends. What's the deep, dark secret? Are you really an international terrorist? Do you work for the CIA?"
"Nothing that extravagent. I almost wish it were." She twisted out of Bobby's arm and stood facing him. "Bobby, take a look at me. I mean, really look at me."
He looked at her. Her light green eyes... Light green? Bobby could have sworn they were a dark brown. He took a closer look. They were slitted, like a cat's. Definately not human. "You're a mutant!"
Anna nodded. She closed her eyes, and when they opened, they were back to their normal brown. She explained, "My eyes are really light sensitive like that. And I hope you're not too angry that I didn't tell you earlier. It's just that I wasn't sure how you would react at first, and then I was worried that I'd waited to long, and-"
Bobby put one hand over her mouth to stop her babbling. "Trust me on this one, I don't think it's going to be a problem."
