Chapter Four

" she's not goin' ta detect ya, is she? "

" non "

Gambit was invisible in the astral plain. And there for, undetectable to telepaths. He could slip by, without them even noticing.

* shit!. man, now what am I gonna ta do? Fuck, I blew it! ....... aw hell, why not? ....Not like were gettin' out without a fight now anyways. why not get a jump start?*

" Hurry!! get in!" it was wispered in a harsh tone, Gambit was getting impatient.

" One sec......"

Tigress's power shot forth from her right hand, black in color, as it molded to the night. It stuck Akuma squarly in the chest, but before she was even able to cry out her alarm, she calapsed to the ground in a dead faint. Sonja's power had sent a high energy pulse throughout Akumas body, overloading blood flow, adrenalaine, everything resulting in her current condition. Gambit reached out, practicaly draging Sonja through the door.

Out side, Akuma's team mate looked down upon her unmoving form. He knealt down beside her, placing his fingures to her throat checking for a pluse. As he found it, he let out a sigh, * how would I explain your death?* Wondering what caused her to pass out, he flipped her over, checking for any sign of foul play. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he called it in, "Reporting, a man down and property damange." Within five minutes, six other personal, came out of the main building.

The complex above ground looked like any normal arm base, two large buildings, one squared, the other rectangular in shape. There also were a few smaller buildings, each 'bout the size of a small gymnasium. Spread out in a confined area were the hangers for jets and other aircrafts, plus, vicyles of different purposes. To top it off, was the perimiter fence, which surrounded the entire base. Hidden by the tropical forest, proclaimed legal, and decmissed to be nothing more then a low grade teaching facility, by signed papers. It didn't even register on any goverment maps and such, it was just writtin' off, how one would think? Four simple words " Money can buy anything " true enough, the goverment was greedy.

Inside.

" I was comin' ya know. Ya didn' have ta drag me, like that!"

" I had t' do somtin', not like y'were hurryin' or not'in' "

"hmph" Sonja jus' glared at him for a moment, turned around and continued walking down the hall. Looking for an accesible air vent to climb into. They had to get to Nubica's room, for their were too many places where Babs could be. The inside of this peticular building, which was the large squared one, had three levels to it. the first was where all the living quartes were, the second floor had the headquarters, meeting rooms, war room, to make a long list short, where all the techniqual stuff was held. Third floor contained the labs, prison cells, an' other such rooms. The large rectangle shaped building was simply called the gym. It had a full sized gymnasium, with all the gym equipment and more, for fitness and training. Right beside it, was sort of like the danger room, but not as safisticated. Training of mutant abilities were practiced here. Mutants faught againt each other full out here, the walls were designed to take the beating. A control room was built into the wall, right next to the door.

Remy couldn' help but smile inwardly. The trip here, had been too serious. He'd been thinking too much, it just wasn't him. He enjoyed and thrived in situations like this. He had to admit, that his addenilen was already going. He was about half way down the hallway, with Sonja leading the way, when his spatial awarness picked up movement coming from the right from one of the ajoining hallways.

" Tigress" He wispered.

She turned and looked at him, wondering what was wrong. Gambit only gave her a warning glance before he turned and took cover in the black shadows. Sonja hurriedly fallowed suit. One thought popped in her head *Someones coming* The movement Gambit had picked up, was no more then a small child, heading towards her room, from an abviously stressfull day.

" Got t'be no more den twelve" he spoke out his assesment, with a hint of disgust in his voice "what better time too brainwash someone"

The young teen soon vanished down yet another hall. Sonja abrubtly stood spotting an air vent not too far away, and took a straight path to it. Standing directly under it, she estimated the height to be, bout ten feet up. As Gambit reached her, she was alreading digging in her bag for a screw driver she apparently couldn' find.

" ummm, if I lifted ya, could you...." She left the sentence hanging

Gambit simply smiled. Reaching in and finding what he needed, he signaled that he was ready, and was immediatly in the air infront of the vent. He went to work, within secondes he had it hanging in his hand. Tigress lowered him to the ground, taking and placing the vent lid silently to the floor.

Ten minutes later, they were climbing into Nubicas room. The room was pretty plain in design, door, bed, end table, bathroom. But was cluttered with papers, cloths, and personal objects.

" shouldn' she be here? "

" ya would think so, wouldn' ya? " They sat there, looking around the room, for what seemed forever. Remy had taken up pacing.

Akuma awoke to a white room and bright lights. As she slowly opened her eyes fully, she was greeted with the sight of Mark Masters (A.K.A Mortality) and the doctor, talking to each other a few feet away from her. Mark looked over to her, noticing she had awakened.

" What the hell happened to you! " He yelled at her, arms crossed with a ticked off expression?

Akuma shrunk under his gazed, her mind racing to remember, what indeed happened?, she let her powers go, searching for her answer. She didn't dare give him a guess, she needed something real.

Mortality stood there watching. He new she'd give a damn good reason, or sufer the consequences. Dr. Smith, stood off to the corner not wanting to get in the way or interupt.

The respect for Mortality was incredible. being the head of the whole organization, and the one you didn't want to piss off. Ken Grant (A.K.A Sulfuric) was second in comand, and who carried out all of Mortality's orders. Both men had short violent tempers. Mortality had once killed his vice comander because he didn't carry out one of his orders to the letter. Now if that doesn't tell you anything about the guy, I don't know what will.

" umm, sir? I found . . . ."
