Chapter Five

" ah, sir? I found , at least I belive I've found our intruder. But we often recruit new people so I' m not sure."

" Where?"

"womens quarters, I don' know which room"

Mortality left Akuma sitting on the bed, in the sterile medical room. He knew the news of Bab's capture would leak out to Sonja. Infact that was what he was hoping for. But now he had to locate and retrieve her with sucsses. Mortality entered the central Head quaters, barking out comands. People dashed around in a madly but somehow orderly fashion.

"sir, I found her. 1st floor, womens wing, Daisy Leons quaters. But she's not alone, someone else is with her" Kava announced promptly. Her real was Penelope Parrish, 18yrs old. With mushroom cut blond hair ,green eyes and 5'6. She has the power to intoxicate the mind, to confuse and disoriante the person she's attacking. She induces her powers with her mind, when Killing her enimies, thier bodies go into fatal tremors.

At the X-Mansion.

" X-Men to the war room imediatly" The speakers blared Scots command.

In the war room infront of one of the t.v's, which were broadcasting news coverage on the introduction of mutants into public schools, stood Scot. One by one all the X-Men that were in the masion filled the room. Standing about Scot in a half circle, waiting for him to explain why he had called them here. Thoughts disturbed, Scot turned to face his Team mates.

" This is why I called you all down" He pointed to the t.v. It showed F.O.H picketing infront of a public highschool, signs saying " No Mutants, Go back to the sewers, And other such filth. While hyped fanatics yelled obscene remarks. In the school, highschoolers stared out of the windows or tried to continue working.

"As of yet no physical threats or actions have been carried out, but thats not to say it won't happen. If they decide to storm the school people could get hurt." Scots voice carried a concerned note to it.

Through all this the gathered X-Men, Cannoball, Storm, Pheonix and wolverine had stood quietly obsorbing the information. " You'd think the police would be handlin' this." Sam said in a questioning tone.

" Ha! The faithful fat ass cops? If somethin' did happen they'd most likely join the Friends of Humanity, with guns in hand " wolverine snarled, his voice like a low growl.

" Logan! Not everybody is like that, and you know it." Not in a vey good mood now herself , Jean didn't mean to sound so exasperated.

" A school Jean, "

" She knows that Logan, you must calm down" Storm sounded just as tired with the whole deal herself.

The BlackBird touched ground in Washington D.C, a half mile away from the school, cloaked in a park near by. Standing among the onlookers, dressed casually stood five X-Men. Still ranting like madmen, F.O.H people continued to picket. But as the hours passed and school ended, nothing happened. No one was hit by any flying object not even tapped. Finally everybody began to disperse slowly, seeing that thier audience was leaving, F.O.H fallowed.

Within the cockpit , for the duration of the flight home, not a word was said. Only silence and humming of engins were heard. Everyone was tired and bored out of thier minds, but all happy enought that nothing had happened. Walking into the kitchen, Ororo looked down at the table and remembered the absence of her two teamates. Sitting down in one of the chairs, elbows on the table with her hands holding her head up, she gazed out the window.

Sam came bursting through the other entrance at a dead run heading straight for the opposit door. But stopped in mid stride, upon seeing Ororo sitting at the table looking troubled.

" you o.k Ororo ma'am?"

silence. . . " do you not think Remy and Sonja have been gone long?"

"Gambit's always comin' and goin', he never comes back on time" Sam really didn't like the cajun.

Ororo knowing this took it into consideration. " yes, I believe that's true, what about sonja?"

"ummmmm. . . she probly went with him, the notes were tagether. . " he was trying quickly to help Storm, but urgently wanted to go kill Drake. He was still cold!

" Thank you Sam "

" No problem, gotta go!"

She was far from reassured, something wasn't right about this whole thing, but she couldn't figure out what. It was simply a feeling she couldn't shake.

A group of ten soilders lead by Mortality himself, made thier way down long gray hallways. Lit by over head lights , sections between shadowed. Clicking made by boots hiting the floor slightly echoed through the hall, the only evidence of life besides the low hum of the lights and rustling of cloth upon cloth. Reaching thier distenation everyone halted, slient and unmoving, except for flexing muscle and nerves. Mortality's hand quickly snaked out, reaching for the handle to Nubica's room. . . .

Sonja sat on Nubica's bed, staring at a little wooden cross attached to a golden chain of fair size. memories began stirring . At one time that necklace never left Daisys neck. A gift from a lost friend, it symbolized a love that could not be. why did she did take it off? Never once did I see her without it.

Still in thought, her eye caught the stillness of the room and looked up. Remy had stopped pacing, and was turned towards the door.

Remy's instict told him something was wrong, but just because Nubica wasn't here didn't mean anything was amiss. Wasn't like a time had been set or anything. Then again they'd been here for awhile now, Nubica should at least have checked in once. The room it self was almost identicle to every other sleeping quarter in the building. The demensions may vary but not to a large degree. Thinking this, his spatial awarness caught movment down the hall coming this way. This wasn't unusual, but Remy was always taking in and cautious of his surroundings, an unconsious habit that had formed when he was very young. Tracking the group of people, he guessed bout 3 or 4, they were packed close together and walked in unison of each other. So he couldn't tell for sure how many. Sensing movement form the bed but did not turn, it was Sonja coming to stand beside him.

" what? " The concern evident in her voice.

" People comin dis way " The answer short and vague.

Sonja only stood there waiting, the halls were continuely walked, Remy knew this as well. Eyes searching his face looking for clues as to wether to be worried or not. Seeing nothing but the familiar poker face securely in place.

" Notin', dey walked pass "

5 minutes later another group passed, they settled. Then another coming down the hall, by this time Sonja had returned to her position sitting at the edge of the bed. Seeing Remy still once more didn't bother her. Knowing he'd let her know if something was wrong.

To Remy this group was the same. Not showing any sign of slowing when nearing thier door, he relaxed some what. Just about to start pacing again, the small party of men rushed the room. Along with a spray of sleeping darts, and can of knockout gas. Both X-Men imediatly sliping into fighting stances, wanting to be somewhere else rather that directly infront of these soilders who carried automatic weapons. Remys hand was a blur as it grabed then through three playing cards. Each breath the two friends took, brang a lungful of the gas, which was leaking out of it's canister. Sonja didn't even get the chance to counter act, two of the darts had found a mark. The fast acting salution and gas knocked her out within seconds. Remy however was fallowing the same path fast. Soon both friends and three guards lay sprawled motionless on the floor. The attack had been planned, quick and clean.

Meanwhile. . .

Daisy was anxious to check in on her room, not knowing when her friend would arrive. This training session however was taking longer that she thought. Finally, just when the thought of simply leaving entered her mind, the session ended. Then to her dismay Akuma casualy walked up and handed her a written note. Turning, Akuma made the streatch back out of the building. The whole time, Daisy glaring holes in the little bitches back. All Daisy wanted was an escuse to break, maime or kill the slut. A desire she'd had ever since meeting the blond bimbo. Deciding the letter had to be read, she unfolded intricate creases.

" Meet me in my office imediatly "
          Mortality

Unfounded wild thoughts dashed about her mind like a dark dance leading to the unknown. With an unsteady hand she refolded and pocketed the note. Like all the others in here, nobody wanted Mortalitys undivided attention. Daisy stood outside a solid looking door, a nameplate at eyelevel read:

MORTALITY
Mark Masters

His real name was rarely used. Gathering strength a steady hand raped twice upon the door. Mortality slowly lifted his head, leaned back in his chair and took a sip of coffee before answering . Daisy stode in, closing the the door behind her, then stopped directly infront of a large oak desk. Her stance was that of a soilder at ease.

"Why Nubica, so nice of you to join me at such short notice...please sit." Motioning with a hand for her to take a seat. A false smile playing upon his smug face, the air around him seemed to be charged with confidence. Such of one who never bluffed.

" I'm fine thanks " What are you doing stupid? she thought, a stubborn personality was what got her in the most trouble.

" I said SIT!. . . it wasn't an option " His anger controlled.

Nubica took the seat in a hurried fashion, sitting there with hands clasped together and head bowed. Only then did Mortality speak again, his hand within a desk drawer locating a small object.

" Do you reconize this? " The question sounded sincere. . . . Nubica raised her head, eyes imediatly focasing on the object dangling from his two fingers. A long delicate silver chain, on which a a worn silver gothic cross hung. It was Sonja's. Silence. . .

" I must congratulate you for bringing my query and another to my feet. Unfortunatly you've also decieved my trust, for this you know the penalty. But. . your one my top fighters, although this alone wouldn't save you, your also loyal amoung other things. So instead I shall have you begging my mercy instead."

With a nod from his head two men from either side of the room approached Nubica. Indicating her to stand, an inhibator callor (small in size) was placed about her neck and metal restraints about her wrists. After all was done, Nubica was lead out of the room, inbetween each man, whom which both she knew.
