Seeking Peace pt 15

"I could learn t' like your music." Remy absently rubbed her back.

"Good thing I left a few of my CDs in here, huh?" She kissed his shoulder lightly. "Thanks for dancing with me. That is the stuff fantasies are made of." She smiled shyly and shifted her weight more evenly between her hips.

"You keep wigglin' like dat p'tite and we b' dancin' again." He grabbed her hips to stop her movements. He wasn't made of stone. Well, if she kept squirming in his lap like that he would be. She seemed to have a fondness for making him her pillow. Not that he minded of course.

He stroked her hair and looked up at the ceiling. The dancing had been as erotic as their love making afterward. The scent of their intimacy was still thick in the air. It didn't feel like sex anymore. It was different this time. He was starting to share more of himself with her than just his body. He felt her do the same. When did it start to change? Was it love? He didn't know.

He had loved before. But with Rogue, it was different. Extreme highs and lows that left him feeling like he had been caught in a whirl wind. What he felt for Kyler wasn't the same. He was comfortable with her. She was fresh, peaceful. He could be silly and flirt knowing she enjoyed playing as well. He liked just talking to her. They never lack for conservation and he didn't consider himself a talker.

He wanted to tell her how he felt but he wasn't sure how. He was afraid she might think he was substituting comfort with friendship and that wasn't it at all. It was deeper than friendship even though it was present. No wonder, women accuse men of being closed mouth about relationships. Who could possible put these feelings into words? How do you tell a woman that you sure find her comfortable? It sounded like describing an old pair of shoes.

"Remy? How long have you known about my training sessions?" He came out of his reviver at her soft question. She curled her legs over his thigh so she was centered in his lap.

"De first day. It's hard t' miss de bruises, chere or de way you disappear a' every day." His face took a serious mien. "Why didn' you ask me?"

"I didn't want to hurt your feelings. I was afraid you go soft on me and I wouldn't learn enough that way. Logan is a taskmaster. He pushes till I get it right. I need that."

"Enough? How much you need t' learn?"

Her eyes dropped from his face. If she told him she had every intention of going with the X-men when they found Sinister he might pitch a fit and try to prevent it. She didn't want to lie to him either. Damn, there wasn't a middle ground in this that would sound believable. Truth is stranger than fiction.

"I am training so it can't be used as an excuse for me not to face Sinister. He is messing with my life. I need to find the answers. I can't sit back and let you guys handle it. Can you understand that?" Pleading eyes bore into him. "I need to be there."

He understood but a stronger need to keep her safe overrode any understanding. "Sinister bad news." She winced as his hand tightened in her hair. "You b' safe here."

His concern warmed her heart but it would not deject her from her course. "How can I be safe until we know what's going on?"

The last thing she wanted was to get in a disagreement over this. She desperately wanted his support but she wasn't going to ask for it. He would have to come around on his own.

They might have agreed to explore the emotional side of the relationship but they didn't talk about any commitments. She knew the future was too vague for such talks. She was going to stick with her plan of leaving when the Sinister situation was over. That meant she had to enjoy the time she had left with Remy. Arguing was not on the enjoyment menu.

"Let's talk about something else, okay?" She hoped she didn't sound as desperate as she felt.

"What you want t' talk bout?" He let go of her hair and began to sooth her scalp with slow strokes of his hands.

"I have a better idea. Let's not talk." She kissed his chest before moving up to his lips.

"We talk bout this later, neh?" He didn't want to let it go that easy but his body was beginning to respond to her attentions.

"As long as it's later." The future could be put on hold for awhile. Right now she had more important concerns. She couldn't tell him how special she thought he was but she could certainly show him.
