Dance of Light and Shadows
By Magik
The past has cast long shadows
darkening
soul's light
shroud of shadow around the sun.
Then,
a hesitant touch
a pale ray slips through
the shadows.
Touching surer
light grows
waxing
and waning
as life flows
but ever glowing stronger.
Then,
the other soul touches completely
light to light
and flare burns
all the shadows
for a heart's beat.
Then,
they return
fears and doubts
that so pure a light would face
his shadows
unafraid.
And the dark
calls again
as the light moves
away afraid.
On scared but willing feet
her light returns
and though the shadows
strike back,
there is ever
a little more
they cannot touch.
