One Friend

Part Three

'Cause when we were together,

It made the dream come true.

If I had only one friend left,

I'd want it to be you.

"If I had only one friend"

Joesph was wiping his remaining tears with the back of his freezing hand, because of his mind yelling at him he didn't hear someone come up behind him. Still on his knees from when he lost concentration, he slowly lifted his body back up leaned his head back and breathed in deep.

"Some big shot mutant ruler you turned out to be." Hearing a voice startled him and he once again found himself sprawled across the ground.

"Aren't you a little far away form the basement and swears, Marrow?" he regained his levatation crossing his legs in front of him and turned his back to her and looked straight in front.

"Maybe, but I wouldn't be out here freezin' my butt off if the sound of an exploding radio, got me out here. That was there only portable, hope you don't plan to bust everythin' around here. I wouldn't think that big claw would treat you very nice." 'I hope he bought that' Kipper thought

"Perhaphs not, but why would you care? Go girl, crawl back into your hole in the ground. Leave me be."

Sarah smirked at the idea of what the real her being jerked around. She went over to were he was floating and sat down stretching her legs out, using her arms to hold herself up.

"Or you can stay and play on my nerves." He commented seeing that giving her the 'cold shoulder' hadn't worked.

"I do what I wanna do anyways, I heard that you use ta do that to." 'Maybe this will get him to lighten up a bit'

"Totally dependent on you, yourself and no one else." Joesph smirked not looking back at her.

"That's your way of sayin' it. I'd rather say that I've learned."

"I know I'm going to regret this tomorrow for asking, but what have you 'learned'?"

'okaay, here comes the tough part' She thought before answering.

"That trusting poeple can, I mean always leads to you bleeding why they stand over you with a stupid grin. That's why I don't trust people"

"Isn't that...Wouldn't you regret that I mean, lonely?"

"Can't be lonely if you were born to be alone." Those words sent chills down his spine remebering overhearing Bishop and Rouge talking about not feeling anything, and born to be a loner. Then a second thought came to him, this one he voiced.

"Then you'll be doing the one thing you loathe."

"What do you mean by that Magnet?" Pretending to have her attention was on the stars, but she was really listening.

"Living up to Storm's low expectations of you, and there proving her right in front of the rest of the team."

Th menchin of Storm's name made a strange feeling bubble to the surface that Kipper was not aware she could feel. She said nothing, he turned his head to see if she'd be ready to leave him alone, but found her staring up at the stars instead.

"What aer you looking at girl?"

"The flaming plane in the sky coming right for us, the stars genejoke."

"I never thought you'd be one to pay much mind to such things." It might have sounded cruel but it was truthful.

"Their one of the only things I ever trusted, they don't judge you, don't care about what you did and they can't say anything to hurt you."

He looked up at the twinkiling dots in the sky, an unuasual warmth came over him, maybe peace. She was right the stars didn't care everytime they showed, it was if they were smiling at you. They never made you feel unwanted, but trusted, respected, and they even saw all you did but did not make a fuss over it when you saw thwm the next night.

"You surprise me,I truly never thought you this...thoughtful, Mar...Sarah."

"Yeah well I..." Her words dropped when clouds suddenly appeared, they twisted and folded until two heads could be made out of them. Warren and Betsy kissing, passionately.

"I forgot to tell her not to do that!" she screamed and ran off towards the pond

"She deffintly surprises me." He said to himself watching the morlocks retreat.

Kipper dropped her diguise and dove head first in to the murky night pond water, using her 'talents' to travel any where on earth through water. She landed with a hard Thud in the Angels shower.

'I hate when that happens' She could hear movements from the oppsite side of the closed doors, shuffling of feet.

"What the hell was that?"

"Calm down and I'll go see." Betsy who was really Sarah, opened the door wrapped in nothing but a bed sheet.

Kipper looked up from the shower stall and her mouth dropped open at the sight. The woman slipped all the way through the door and locked it.

"What are you doing here, angel girl?" Sarah hissed low enough for only the small one to hear.

"No."

"What?"

"No, no no. You were about to do a big no-no!"

"What are you going on about? Answer me!"

"What do you think you were doing?"

"LIving the life of a pretty one. You know that you made it possible."

"I mean what were you doing with the guy out there?" Betsy just sared at her,"Okay there is a little part of the deal I musta left out, and what you were planing to do was a big no-no!"

"That is stupid, if I haveta act like this one he is going to expect something."

"I don't care if hes expectatin, ex-pect-ing a pony from the gift of the month club! You are still a girl! Betsy is the one that has to live up to doing the certain chore of discussion!"

A pounding came from the door, the giver was Warren,"Betts, what was wrong? What happened? Are you okay in there? Come on answer me!"

"Nothing's wrong, Warren. The ah...shower head fell.Sorry but I feel ill I think I need to rest."

The door fell queit behind her, the sound of a window opening and a loud swoosh. Then silence

Anger came over her face,"Are you happy now? He's gone! What kind of gift is this? I hate it! He's gone!"

"But he loves the real Elisabeth, he'll always come back to her." Kipper's wings glowed again and the water started to run then a bright flash of gold and the little angel was gone.

Elisabeth unlocked the door, and took her time getting to the living room of the large apartment, the balcony window was still opened. The way he left it, the white currtains blowing gently in the breeze, the moon showed it's light through the doors, falling short of Sara'hs new body. She slowly walked the path it lead to the balcony. She walked out to early morning air, being in a sheet in mid-winter was not the brightest of ideas. She leaned against the rail and looked down at the busy things happening below, sighed and looked at the moon. She could see what people called 'The lovers in the moon', and began to silently cry

'Where am I? I feel myself falling, but I'm not going anywhere. So dark, dark but warm. Warren! Help me the shaodws have me they won't let me go! But I control the shadow tele...It's not the shadows! It's not dark but it is warm, so warm like the blood, it's warm. Someone else is here. I can since them, But I feel so tiny, and why can I hear myself crying?' She reached out her telepathis inhanced mind to find out that she was closer to home than ever.
