If there is anything else I forgot to mention, it *still* applies.
This story is to be blamed almost entirely on Ms. Priscilla MacLeod. She asked if there was another chapter to "One Man's Disccusion..." Therefore I dedicate it to her.
Joseph was having a wonderful day. He'd gotten up at the crack of dawn since Rogue had sprinkled ice cubes down his back. Then he'd been forced to carry her across the lawn because she was feeling tired - just like Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz.
Then he had to find a missing puppy that one of Rogue's friends - who was only two years old - had lost. That, in of itself should've granted him sainthood. However it didn't. He decided that since it didn't, he wouldn't think about it anymore.
Next, he realized that he had a "job" to do. It was voluntering at the library. It was a Friday and many of the X-Men had threatened him, by saying that they'd have him carry all of the X-Ladies' baggage on the next few shopping trips and vacations unless he decided to prove his innocence to them by doing a good dead for the community constantly. And of course not get paid for it. In addition that was to be one of the first of many criterions that he must pass without one sole mistake.
So he decided that he'd volunter at the library. That wasn't supposed to be too bad, he'd thought at first, only it was.
First, a good bit of the staff was on leave.
Then an disgustingly cheap piece of heated sand - called glass - broke and he was the only person around there who noticed it. This was because some were stamping cards, shelving books, checking books out and doing other things.
Third, a few children, only a bit older than Rogue's friend, got a massive "crush" on him and followed him around wherever he went. Not even his protective forcefield could have saved him then. He was tempted to bribe them by reading a story to them, but just when he suggested it, the mother came. Needless to say he was relieved.
By the time that was over Rogue stopped by to tell him that she needed to talk to Jean for a moment, but would be back in a flash. He warilly told her, "Thanks."
Then Remy stopped by.
Only he did it in a circumspect way.
Joesph got a tap on his shoulder. Being somewhat emotional and high keyed that day because of the children - not to mention being constantly bugged by the libraraians to do things which he wasn't supposed to be doing anyway - he whirled around and began to start repeating the rules of volunterism to the person who bugged him, Remy LeBeau. Only he didn't.
"Joesph, I need t' talk wit' you."
The Cajun X-Man's voice came as a bit of a surprise to the White Haired resident at Xaviers'.
"Tell me, Remy, the person who hit me in the jaw and who I am not exactly on the best of terms with - not to mention the person who suggested this "job" to me - why should I *want* to talk with you?"
"Because I talked with Rogue a few days ago and afterwards I began to start t'inkin' about somethin' important."
"Like what? You're going to leave the X-Men and start your own business, in torementing others?"
"Well ya' got the first part right."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I was t'inkin' of goin' on a sabatical - to commune wit' God. Then, if'n I felt tha' callin', I'd come."
"That's very religious, Remy. Don't tell me. You're going into the priesthood!"
"Non, just thinkin' of it a lot."
"Why? Because not all women are swarming over you?"
"Actually that engendered my next thought. I thought tha' was beginin' t' get borin'."
Joseph's face turned ashen. "Remy LeBeau, is now finding women, "_boring_. Oh what an era, I am living in."
"Shh!!!! If the word gets out my fan club will destroy me! My reputation will be effaced."
"Why should I care?" Joesph was begining to finally feel as though life was actually fair, despite what Logan kept ranting about.
"Because you and me both have de same problem, mon ami."
"And that is what?"
"Rogue."
"I don't have a problem with her. You do. You're the one who is planning on giving her up - and the rest of the female species."
"Don't yah mean "gender?"
"Remy, you of all people should know that men and women act as though they're not related, and if they are, it is probably an accident of birth."
"Yah got a point?"
"Forget I said it."
"I will. Just as long as you forget I said what I said."
"Why?"
"Because if yah don' I'll tell Rogue what yah said about her."
"What?" He looked almost perplexed.
"That she's a different species than you are." Remy was trying his best to look nonchalant and as though he had an ace up his sleave. Though he probably only had a King.
Joseph then turned his visage into one that was absolutely ridiculus. "No! Gasp! Horror of Horrors! Anything, but that. Tell her I hate her. Tell her Bishop loves her. Tell her that Mystique actually is her mom. But don't tell her that she's of a different species than I am - and you are."
'Why not?" Remy was looking smug.
"Because, she probably won't believe you in any of those cases."
"That's a good idea, mon ami. Now, I know somethin' I'll tell 'er."
"What?"
"Why, Joey, that'd be tellin."
Then Remy waltzed out.
And Rogue walked in apparantly not even noticing Remy.
"Oh, hello Rogue." Joseph was cleaning up a mess that'd been made in the children's section.
"Joseph, I just had a thought."
"Yes?" He asked hopefully.
"Well, I was thinkin that I could use a vocation."
Joseph's mouth dropped.
"Err, that didn't come out right. I meant a vacation. In the Bahamas. Or maybe Cancoon, or Alcapulco. I don't really care. I just want to go to a wonderful beach in the Carribean. Or maybe somewhere else."
"Can I. . . come along?" He ventured hopefully.
"Well. . . actually you can't. You see, I was going to bring Jean and Storm along. Them alone. It was an idea that occured since we both decided we needed a break from our wierd love lives."
"Oh." He managed not to look too sadened by the news.
"In addition, Warren and Betsy will be going off to Warren's chatuea. Bobby and Hank will be going out for a time camping along with the other X-Man. You'll be all alone by yourself."
Joseph didn't know whether to be relieved or not.
"Oh," she said almost as though a missing piece of information was put on in her head. Don't be sad. You won't be alone. Remy will be with you. All the time. Won't that be wonderful?" She was sounding annoyingly blithe. "And you and him can be able to learn to get along with each other. Oh, I can't wait to tell the Profesor about how much you an' Remy will've improved in your behavior toward each other."
Hopefully for Joseph this fanfiction is . . .
Not to be continued. . .
Unless I get an enormous amount of time and an appropriate amount of people request it.
