Day of Destiny

Part Six

As Tamera had predicted the reporters had come to make their lives a living hell. After Kristi had shoved them all off her property, she put up a force field which shocked the hell out of the world. It was a technology no one had ever seen before. Metaphasic shielding was a concept Cable had given Kristi before they left. She had told Dustin what Cable told her and he had set up a shield for them on their property in case of disaster.

"Mrs. Lebeau! What the hell is surrounding your property!!!" screamed Mr. Wiltshire. Mr. Wiltshire was the world wide representative of NATO.

"It's a force field. What does it look like?" asked Kristi peevishly. "I had unwanted people coming onto my property without my authorization and this seemed like the best way to keep them off."

"Where in the hell did you get this technology. It surpasses anything we have on earth for the next thousand years!" shouted Mr. Wiltshire. He looked so funny... his face was red like a tomato and he looked like he was going to burst a capillary!

"Well, I did get it from a delightful man from a thousand years into the future when I was in one of our many alternate realities." smiled Kristi. She was actually enjoying taunting this man. "Anyhow, that's beside the point..."

"What else have you neglected to 'mention' to us Mrs. Lebeau?" asked Mr. Wiltshire.

"Who is there with you?" asked Kristi being cautious.

"All NATO members. You caused quite a stir showing this to the world. What can we think now? For all we know, you could be in contact with aliens!" said Mr. Wiltshire forcefully proving his point.

"Is this a secure channel?" asked Kristi.

"No, but I can make it secure." he said pushing a scrambling button on the phone.

"Mr. Wiltshire. We have worked together these past five years and I know this tone you take with people when you want information. If you want some information from me, then you do not use that tone."

He immediately knew that his tactics wouldn't work on her. They had worked together, side by side, for the past five years after gaining international ambassadorship.

"Fine Kristi. Now spill it." said Mr. Wiltshire, even giving himself a little smile.

"I will allow three people in here, you, a reporter and a camera man. There all your questions will be answered. That sounds fair to me." smiled Kristi. "Be here by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, okay? See you then!" She knew that that had gone well. Now, to take action.

After the phone call Kristi called up Tamera, Emily, David, Chris and Jonathan up to the meeting room.

As they all entered they looked uneasy, so Kristi had to easy their fears.

"You are not here because you have been bad! I just need to talk with all of you before tomorrow. Tamera already knows this, but I need to have all of you here know something about me. I was gifted with a power I cannot understand completely and you all know Crystal and Dustin. They use and feed off my power." Kristi eyed each one just to make sure that they were taking this okay.

"Emily, you are my best telekinetic. You have worked really hard and you've earned yourself a spot on my team. David, you are the only one who can 'find' things anywhere in the world. I will be relying on your power to us in our time of need. Chris and Jonathan, I found you two boys in Brazil, struggling to survive, not a hope in the world to advance your education. Look how far you've come! You, my two little teleports, are at the top of your class and you finish off our little group. Once everyone is back, you will be initiated into our group called the Highlanders."

"Now down to business. You all know Mr. Wiltshire, he's coming here tomorrow with two reporters. We need to make him feel welcome as possible. One thing we can't do is let them find out about me. That's the gist of it. Any questions?" asked Kristi after giving her carefully planned speech.

"So Crystal, Dustin and you are in this group?" asked David.

"Yes us and two vampires from another reality. Their names are Kielle and Angel. One day their little boy will be included as well. Not to mention, now Crystal's husband Darien is in our little group." replied Kristi. A cheer went up from the kids. Kristi had the puzzled look on her face.

"He always brings us candy and treats when he comes here." explained Emily giving a little smile.

"You aren't going to leave us, are you Mrs. Lebeau?" asked Chris with a sad look on his face. Kristi was shocked.

"Why would you think I would leave you?" she asked.

"Maman explained us why she left before she left and never came back." whispered Jonathan about to weep. Kristi pulled them both close to her.

"I would never leave you boys. All you kids are like my own and I intend to never leave you for good. In fact, I have something to tell you boys. We have filed for your adoption. Out of all you kids we brought here to train, you were the only ones without parents. It took some convincing of mine to sway Remy, but you two grew on him." said Kristi. She smiled to herself and wondered if anyone could grow on Remy, but it seemed the only way to explain it.

"Really?" asked Chris as hope filled his eyes.

"Really." confirmed Kristi as they both gave her a BIG bear hug.

"Can I call you maman now?" asked Jonathan sheepishly.

"I'd be honored and if Remy were here I'm sure he'd love it if you called him papa." she gave them both a little kiss on the forehead.

"You know, but sometimes, they have to go on business trips and they both won't be here... but know that all of us are like sisters and brothers and we will take care of each other." said Tamera carefully interjecting her words making sure that Jonathan and Chris understood and accepted it.

"Okay guys, we have a long day tomorrow, so we better get some sleep so we can get up bright and early in the morning to greet our guests." said Kristi. They all left for bed except Tamera. Kristi had told her to stay telepathicalle as she was talking to them.

"What was all that about?" Kristi asked.

"I don't know, it was like I needed to say it for some reason. I think that you are going to be going somewhere soon. I can't be any more precise but I'm sure that this will help." said Tamera. Kristi was pleased with her answer. After all, if the situation ever did occur, she didn't want them worrying. She could just blame it all on a business trip now. It was good thinking on Tamera's part.

Remy went back with Scott to the X-manor. Everyone was gone, once again. It was weird, the first time Remy had went to the manor, everyone was gone as well.

"Where is everyone?" asked Remy.

"They are gone to watch the marriage of Professor Xavier to Lillandra." said Scott.

"Why aren't you there? He was like a father to you as you grew up!" asked Remy astonished.

"After that night, he found it hard to forgive me for not telling him the truth long ago. I know he's not the kind of man to hold a grudge, but he didn't want me at his wedding." said Scott hanging his head down low.

"What do you mean he didn't want you at his wedding??? Did he tell you that yourself?" asked Remy shocked that Xavier would do such a thing.

"No, Lillandra did." said Scott, feeling the full impact of his emotions crushing inside him in the hurt he was feeling.

"Does she have something against you or something?" asked Remy.

"Not that I know of. But... my dad is Corsiar... Maybe she just made it all up!" screamed Scott in fury at this realization. "Lillandra could of made it all up because of something Cosiar did to piss her off! I need to get there as fast as I can!" declared Scott as he headed for the hanger. "Shit! I forgot that they took the Blackbird!"

Remy reached for Kristi's power and harnessed it. Scott's mouth dropped open in amazement and then turned into a grateful smile. Remy was acting the fairy god mother like in Cinderella. He had given Scott a tux and transported him interdimensionally to Lillandra's home. He would probably get there before the others!

Crystal, Darien and Dustin went up and got their things. Talking telepathically with Kielle and Angel they decided to meet at the McDonalds to satisfy Colin. Darien was still a little shaken, after all, it's not every day you meet a vampire. Crystal eased his fears with words of love and encouragement. They all walked for the remainder of the day. After they had stored their things where they were going to leave, (Kielle's place), a walk seemed like a good idea. After a good two hours of walking, Dustin and Crystal sat down on a bench, while Darien had gone to get some ice cream from a booth around the corner. Crystal and Dustin waited, waited and waited some more, yet Darien did not come back. Crystal went over to check and he wasn't there.

"Where did he go?" asked Dustin as Crystal came back.

"I don't know. He wasn't there and there were no signs of a struggle. People said that they hadn't seen anyone of his description." said Crystal, her face going white with what she was implying.

"I think we better get to our meeting place. If I know Kielle right, her little boy is a lot like her and they will want to get to McDonalds fast, so that they can save themselves the embarrassment of Colin eating without us there to watch!" smirked Dustin.

"What do you mean!" cried Crystal. "Her little boy is the picture of innocence! He is so adorable! Haven't you ever wanted a child of your own, to play with, bring up, have the satisfaction that you will live on through your children?"

Dustin sobered. Indeed he had been thinking about it for some time. They both got up and headed in the direction of the McDonalds.

"I have thought about it once or twice," admitted Dustin softly, with a shrug of his shoulders. "I just haven't met the right person yet."

Crystal was shocked with his answer. In magazines all around the world, it kept repeating that marriage wasn't on his mind yet. Although, he had famous movie stars like Meg Ryan, Claudia Chaffer, Sandra Bullock, invite him to their parties at every chance.

Crystal, shook herself back into reality, "Let's run, we need to find Darien and we can't do it by ourselves." Crystal started to run and Dustin jogged behind her.

Kielle, Angel and Colin hit the hospital to pick up a quick snack. Yet, on the way there, Colin had jumped into the fountain to pet a seagull. To his dismay, it flew away as he approached it. Kielle and Angel promised to take him to McDonalds later if that would make him happy. He was a very spoiled child, yet with a perfect disposition. No one would of ever guessed! After the promise, Kielle contacted Crystal who was out having a walk, that they would meet at McDonalds. Then she implanted this thought into Remy's head, even though he heard her perfectly fine. He didn't want to give it away that he was any different than what he was before he left.

At the hospital, they snuck out a couple of bags of blood and feasted afterwards somewhere secluded in the hospital. As they were leaving the hospital, a nurse came up to Colin, grabbed him and cruelly took him into another room to give him a painfully quick needle. Kielle and Angel kept on walking and they were unaware that Colin was not following them, as they made their way to McDonalds. In the other room, Colin was given his first needle. Unfortunately, it wasn't to help him. It was full of a substance that konked people out. A bunch of men came in a couple of seconds later, tied him up brutally and through roughly him into a van. Colin wouldn't be waking up for a long time if these men had anything to say about it.
